We are RIBA Client Advisers to Shepton Mallett Town Council and are supporting the development of a design brief and design team selection.
The project is led by a working party of Town Councillors. To inform the development of the brief a wider stakeholder group has been consulted and a public survey was held (May – July 2024). Cost and access consultants have been appointed early on to ensure the accuracy of the design brief.
The project is an opportunity to enhance the western gateway to Collett Park and amplify its impact, making a fresh and exciting contribution to the town.
Improving the arrival to this important public park will enhance users experience and attract greater footfall to the park year round, serving a growing local population. It will provide an attractive café and amenities with good indoor, outdoor connectivity between spaces also improving accessibly and active travel connections.
The gateway is an important node for active travel routes and will mark the beginning of the extended Strawberry Line the off road cycle route to Wells and Clevedon.
